Here is the scoop for what’s happening at St. Louis Public Library for the week of April 14th – April 20th.

 

Monday, 14th April

Central: Creative Experience: Explore, Learn, Design, 4-6pm.  Grades 6-12.

Tuesday, April 15th

Julia Davis: Manga and Anime Drawing Club, 3:30-4:30pm.  Grades 6-12

Machacek: DIY: String Eggs, 4-5pm.  Celebrate spring with this simple but unusual craft.  Grades 6-12.

Central: Guerilla Poetry, 5-6pm.  Teen Lounge.  Grades 6-12.

Wednesday, April 16th

Central: Got Game?, 3-5pm.  Xbox 360 and Wii games.  Teen Lounge.  Grades 6-12.

Divoll: DIY: Paint Swatch Bookmarks, 4-6pm.  Grades 6-12.

Buder: DIY: No-Sew T-Shirt Up-Cycles, 4-5pm.  Can’t sew? No problem.   Bring in your favorite old t-shirts and turn them into something new: headbands, bags, and more!  Grades 6-12.

Thursday, April 17th

Schlafly: Got Game?, 3-5pm.  Play Xbox 360 or Wii games.  Grades 6-12.  Groups of 5 or more register in advance.

Walnut Park: Book Spine Poetry, 4-6pm.  Grades 6-12.

Carondelet: DIY: Floppy Disc Pencil Holders, 4-5pm.  Grades 6-12.

Barr: Teen Poetry Slam, 4-5pm.  Grades 6-12.

Friday, April 18th

Central: Anime Club, 4-5pm.  Teen Lounge.  Grades 6-12.

Saturday, April 19th

Central: Game On: Everything From Chess to Yu-Gi-Oh, 3-5pm.  Teen Lounge.  Grades 6-12.

Turkey Week, Nov. 25th – Dec. 1st.

Get ready for Turkey Day this week by visiting your local library.  Here’s what’s happening the week of Nov. 25th to Dec. 1st:

Monday, November 25th

Julia Davis: Poetry Slam, 3:30pm-4:30pm.  Read, write, and discuss poetry and rap. Practice your slam skills. Grades 6-12.

Central: What Can You Create?  Explore Creative Experience, 4-6pm.  Get hands-on every Monday with everything from Photoshop to online video gaming. Grades 6-12. Creative Experience.

Buder: Tabletop Gaming, 6-7pm.  Play “Ticket to Ride” or share a game you know. Grades 6-12.

Buder: Yoga & Tea for Teens, 7-8pm.  De-stress with a 30-minute stretching and breathing session followed by quiet music and tea. Grades 6-12.

Tuesday, November 26th

Walnut Park: DIY: Pillow Case Bags, 4-5pm.  Grades 6-12.

Wednesday, November 27th

Central: Polish & Pages: Butter by Erin Jade Lange, 3:30-4:30pm.  It’s time bring some glam to the library. Use the covers of young adult books as inspiration as you paint your nails! Grades 6-12. First Floor Teen Lounge.

Divoll: Got Game?, 4-5:30pm.  Play Xbox 360 or Wii games. Grades 6-12.

Thursday, November 28th

Julia Davis: Got Game?, 2:30-4:30pm.  Play Xbox 360 and Wii games. Grades 6-12.

As winter creeps up on us, Halloween is just around the corner.  Here’s what’s happening at St. Louis Public Library the week of Sept. 30th – Oct 6th.

Monday, Sept. 30th

Julia Davis: Poetry Slam, 6-7pm.  Read, write and recite poetry and rap to hone your slam skills. Grades 6-12.

Tuesday, Oct. 1st

Central: Board Game Meet-Up, 3:30-4:30pm.  Play a favorite game, or learn a new one. Grades 6-12. First Floor Teen Lounge.

Wednesday, Oct. 2nd

Baden: Teen Movie Day, 4-6pm.  Join us for the latest releases. Grades 6-12 .

Barr: Got Game?, 4-6pm.  Play Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Grades 6-12.

Wednesday, Oct. 3rd

Julia Davis: Chess Tournament, 3:30-4:30pm.  Compete for bragging rights. Grades 6-12.

Carondelet: Teen Tech Music Workshop, 4-5pm.  Learn the basics of composing and recording your own music. Grades 6-12.

Schlafly: DIY: Halloween Jar Lights, 4-5pm.  Grades 6-12. Groups of 5 or more register in advance.

Kingshighway: DIY: Glow in the Dark Spider Balls, 4:30-6pm.  Grades 6-12.

Friday, Oct. 4th

Central: Got Game?, 3-5pm.  Xbox & Wii games. Grades 6-12. First Floor Teen Lounge.

Saturday, Oct. 5th

Central: Finding $$$ for College, 10:30-12pm.  High school seniors and their families are invited to come learn how to find and apply for federal, state and local and private grants, scholarships and other financial aid for college. Cosponsored by the St. Louis Public Library and the TRIO Educational Opportunity Centers. Registration is encouraged by calling 539-0353 after 10 a.m. This program takes place in the Teen Lounge, 1st floor.

Carondelet: Game Day: Apples to Apples, 4-5 pm.  Grades 6-12.   

Central: Authors @ Your Library presents: Patrick Ness in conversation with Dr. JenniferBuelher, 6-7:30 pm.  Patrick Ness will discuss and sign his books. This is an on-stage, in-conversation event with Dr. Jennifer Buehler, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at St. Louis University. Mr. Ness’ work includes the highly acclaimed book, A Monster Calls.

Wednesday, Sept. 25th

Julia Davis: Freedom to Read: Banned Books Challenge, 3-5 pm.  Design your own book based on your favorite banned books. Grades 6-12.

Central: Polish and Pages: Who Am I Without Him: Short Stories about Girls and Boys in Their Lives by Sharon G. Flake, 3:30-4:30 pm.  Bring some glam to the library. Paint your nails. Use young adult books as inspiration. Grades 6-12. First Floor Teen Lounge.

Buder: Duct Tape Throwdown, 3:30-4:30 pm.  What can you make with duct tape? Grades 6-12.

Thursday, Sept. 26th

Central: Anime Club, 3:30-4:30 pm.  Watch and discuss manga. Try different activities each month. First Floor Teen Lounge.

Baden: DIY: Constellation Jars, 4-5 pm.  Bring starlight to any room. Grades 6-12.
