Teen Volunteer Book Reviews

The Ruins of Gorlan (The Ranger’s Apprentice, Book 1) by John Flanagan

This book is very fast-paced.  It keeps you on edge and wanting more at the end of each chapter.  Will, the adventurous and inquisitive main character, compliments the rough, grizzled, Ranger Halt.  They go on an adventure to defeat two very dangerous creatures, the Kalkara, who are manipulated by Morgarath, an evil man wanting to take over the kingdom.

City of Bones (Mortal Instruments, Book 1) by Cassandra Clare

This first book kicks off a very upbeat series.  Young Clary Fray witnesses a murder of a boy that no one else saw.  When she follows the group of teen murders out of the club, they reveal that they are called Shadowhunters, a group of elite people who are descendants from angels on a mission to rid the earth of demons.  When one of the teens, Jace, to be exact, takes Clary home, her mother appears to be missing.  While searching the house a lizard demon attacks Clary.  She trains with the Shadowhunters and goes on a quest to find her mom.
