Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii Qualifying Rounds and Tournament Info

Play Super Smash Bros. Brawl at your favorite branch in July.  You might go to the Grand Championship Tournament!  Plan to arrive at 3 p.m. for a chance to compete.

  • Teens only (grades 6-12)
  • 1 vs. 1
  • This is a two-player bracket elimination tournament.
  • The top 5 players from each branch qualifying round will be invited to the Grand Championship Tournament at Carpenter Branch on Saturday, August 6th at 11 .a.m.
  • Those who DO place in the top 5 at a qualifying round may not compete in another qualifying round at a branch.
  • Those who do NOT place in the top 5 at a qualifying round may enter a qualifying round at another branch.
  • Grand Championship Tournament will determine top 3 players.
  • Friends and family are invited to cheer on their favorite player.
  • Play may be disrupted due to possible dangerous weather, power outage, or faulty video gaming equipment,  St. Louis Public Library may have to improvise the qualifying round or Tournament.  A players round may be forfeited.


  • All characters are available.
  • Items will be turned off except smash ball.
  • Stage: Final Destination
  • Brawl will not be stopped.  Players will not be allowed to pause the game.
  • Stock matches with 3 lives will be played.
  • Match will last 3 minutes or until player loses all three lives, whichever comes first.  Time limit is subject to change.
  • In case of tie, match will go into sudden death.


  • Game will be played on Nintendo Wii, using SLPL equipment.
  • Game controller will be a Wii remote.
  • Nunchuks will be allowed.
  • No personal controllers please.
