Teen Book Review by Helena M.

The Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

Once upon a time there were two girls named Scarlett and Rosie March. One day a man came to their house saying he is there to promote citrus fruits. A few moments later he turns into a wolf man and kills their grandmother. Scarlett saved Rosie’s life that day.

So Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce begins. The two protagonists, Rosie and Scarlett, alternate chapters to tell their own stories. Rosie and Scarlett to me are what make this book so great. They’re two really memorable characters that shine throughout the book. Scarlett is the tough, strong, werewolf hunter who usually kills werewolves with an axe, while Rosie isn’t certain about her future but doesn’t really want to spend her whole life Fenris (werewolf) slaying. Silas, the woodcutter’s son, is caught in between, being the oldest and most experienced at slaying.

Because of the great characters, I really liked this book. In fact, I liked it so much that I got a copy and gave it to my friend for her fourteenth birthday. Sisters Red is definitely one of the best books I’ve read so far with memorable characters, a big plot twist, and lots of Fenris slaying to keep you on your toes. And if that’s not good enough, there’s plenty of kissing too. I would describe this book as Buffy the Vampire Slayer except change the title to Scarlett and Rosie the Werewolf Slayers.
