Hello world!

Welcome to the Teen Blog!

This is the Saint Louis Public Library Teen blog.  That means that we’re going to take our cues from you, the teens.  We’ll post library programs for teens and new and upcoming books but if there’s something else that you’d like to see…let us know! Just post a comment and we’ll see what we can do.

Enjoy!

Books I have read this summer so far:

The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman – this is a story about an African-American woman who lived during the slave years, and it traces her story from slavery to the Reconstruction period all the way to Martin Luther King Jr. and Jim Crow.

Philosophy for Dummies – don’t know if you have an inquiring mind, but this book breaks down a lot of philosophical inquiries and makes them easier to understand. It also poses challenging life questions and helps you to find the answers you most desire.

Forward From this Moment – a collection of columns from columnist Leonard Pitts Jr., and insightful and inspiring person. Deals with issues such as race, sexual orientation, God, and life after 9/11.

Bulfinch’s Mythology – If you like Greek and Norse mythology, if you like tales of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere and the Knights of the Round Table then this is the book for you. Don’t expect to just breeze through this book, it’s no easy read!

I used to volunteer at Carpenter Branch and now I’m in the Summer Reading Club–I was wondering how you write a review for a book, it wasn’t very apparent on the homepage.

      Hi Maggie,

We look forward to reading your book reviews! Please give your review to Joan, Beth, or Andrea at Carpenter or email it to me at readitforward@slpl.org. I will post your review on our Blog and Facebook page with a cover of the book.

      Thanks,
      Carrie
